Arc en Ciel | September 2025
Andrea Bellosi (Florence, 1944–2025) designed the first Arc en Ciel in 1978: a tabletop light sculpture that projects rainbows into domestic interiors. In the following years, he self-produced a very limited series of pieces in white Carrara and black Marquinia marble, available only by commission. In 2016, he conceived a new series of 36 Arc en Ciel lamps—this time as floor lamps. He completed only a single piece, which Simone Begani is pleased to exhibit alongside a selection of well-known lamps, presented here in extremely rare versions.
These include Bruno Munari’s Bali in the 1958 fabric version; Alessandro Mendini’s Cubosfera, composed of three modules in series; Achille Castiglioni’s Snoopy in the rare first edition without the switch on the marble base; and Richard Sapper’s Astarte, among other extraordinary luminous objects. The lamps are displayed on Quaderna desks by Superstudio, set amidst an extensive collection of Locus Solus furnishings designed by Gae Aulenti for Poltronova.
