Stati d’animo | November 2022
From Friday 25 November, the gallery shows a selection of artworks from the 1960s by the painter and ceramist Giorgio Ferrero (1916-1975), a sophisticated interpreter of the Informalism, difficult to place in the Italian scene, given his fascination for American action painting, the CO.BR.A Group and Oriental cultures. Since his early death, his work has been poorly documented. It was above all the recollections of his pupils and those of his friends that preserved his memory. Among them it is important to mention Betty Woodman, who began working with ceramics in Ferrero’s studio in Fiesole after the second World War, and Lara Vinca Masini, who was one of the first to write on Ferrero’s works and present them to the public. On the occasion of the exhibition, Simone Begani and CentroDi publish the book ‘Stati d’animo’, a first study on the artist, and in particular on his works on paper from the 1960s, with texts by Mirella Branca and Lara Vinca Masini (layout and design by Giada Marson and Giulia Pastore, photos by Dario Borruto).
